Showreel – Opening Academic Year 2025

The brief
Together with NMC Live, we developed the opening sequence for the Opening Academic Year 2025. What started as an energetic opener to pull the audience in quickly grew into something broader: a showcase of what TU Delft has achieved in recent years.

Behind the scenes
This project sat right on the edge of live and video production. The challenge was to make something that could work as a strong opening moment in the room, while also carrying a bigger story. It had to set the tone, build momentum, and feel visually sharp from the first seconds.

Why this one stood out
What made this project interesting was that it had to do two jobs at once. It needed the energy of an event opener, but also the substance of a short showcase film. That mix made it a strong way to kick off the event.

One tool making this possible is the Lightboard—a transparent glass board that lets educators write while facing the camera. Unlike traditional slides, it shows both the lecturer’s explanations and their expressions, making learning more engaging and personal. From flipped classrooms to problem-solving videos, the Lightboard helps teachers share not just answers, but the thinking process behind them—turning lessons into stories that connect with students.
