LDE Student Election Debate – “Futureproof – Nederland in Transitie”

In collaboration with Leiden University and Erasmus University, TU Delft organised a political debate ahead of the 2025 general election. Current and aspiring members of the House of Representatives debated topics such as AI and technology, resilient society, and healthcare, while a panel of researchers provided live fact-checking during the event.

Livestreaming these events—sometimes outdoors—requires solving challenges like power, connectivity, and weather, while collaborating on creative visuals and show elements.

The Dies Natalis is the University’s annual celebration, featuring a themed programme highlighting research. In 2026, it marks the farewell of Rector Tim van der Hagen and the welcome of Hester Bijl. To energize a formal programme, a tango act and dynamic stage design were incorporated.

This is Krashna

Krashna Musika, the student orchestra and choir from DELFT (NL), plays ‘Sogno di Volare’ by Christopher Tin at the Dream Hall of the Delft University of Technology. Droomproject 2023 – Produced by New Media Centre TU Delft Krashna is the student orchestra and choir from Delft. The association showcases a unique combination of technical students and classical music and provides a meeting place for all like-minded with an interest in music. This project is a collaboration with the New Media Centre of the TU Delft and was filmed at the Dream Hall of the TU Delft.

Blended Learning Animations – Who Is the Engineer of the Future?

How do students discover who they want to become? At TU Delft, the Mechanical Engineering faculty paired with the New Media Centre’s Graphics team to address that question through animated storytelling. By developing eight distinct “Engineer of the Future” personas—each with its own narrative, style, and personality—students could see relatable career paths. Hand-drawn illustrations and concise two-minute videos translated complex concepts into engaging scripts, creating a compelling blended learning experience that inspires and informs.

With synchronized video, slides, and audio captured across 20 lecture halls and mobile setups, it supports learning at any pace and helps with exam preparation. Students can watch lectures from any faculty, expanding their learning opportunities. With new tracking cameras and AI-powered captions, Collegerama continues to evolve, making education more accessible and effective.

AI in Hiring – Can a Machine Pick the Right Candidate?

What if an algorithm decided whether you got the job—even before a human saw your name? AI-driven hiring assessments, now widespread, make implicit assumptions about skills, behavior, and communication that may not match individual realities. By reducing complex narratives to data points, these systems strip applicants of autonomy over their identity and undermine dignity. An interdisciplinary study from TU Delft, University of Twente, and TU Eindhoven inspired a four-minute animated video, making these findings accessible and prompting reflection on AI’s impact in recruitment.
